Apartment and condo moves often revolve around shared spaces: hallways, stairs, elevators, garages and loading areas. A third-floor walk-up requires a different plan from a condo with a service elevator and reserved loading window.
DTHV considers the information supplied about floors, elevator dimensions and carrying distance. Residents must obtain any authorization or booking required by the landlord, condo board or property manager.

When the building imposes a time slot, deposit, protective requirement or service entrance.

When furniture needs to be measured or taken apart to pass through narrow areas.
There is an elevator—but can you use it for the move?
An elevator in the building does not establish that it will fit the furniture or be available when needed. Ask management which elevator and entrance are authorized, then note the usable door dimensions and hallway turns. Include any steps between the sidewalk and lobby.
Keep the instructions for the two buildings separate. A confirmed departure slot does not ensure a matching arrival slot. Share both constraints with DTHV before confirming the arrangements; do not assume a booking will be made on your behalf.

What if the truck has to stay on the street?
Identify a possible loading location and check the rules with the relevant authority. In Montreal, requirements can depend on the borough and the proposed use of public space. A spot seen empty one evening is not a reservation.
For stairs without an elevator, describe the floor, landings and bulky furniture. The useful information is the complete path an item will travel, not only the apartment doorway.

Who books the moving elevator?+
The resident or leaseholder is responsible for the booking. Ask management about the process, then send DTHV the confirmed time and entrance details.
What should I report for a walk-up?+
Include the floor, number of flights, approximate stair width, tight turns and especially heavy furniture. Photos can help explain unusual access.
Are common areas automatically protected?+
Protection needs must be discussed and confirmed for the building and scope. Customers must also follow any specific landlord or condo-board requirements.
Can drawers stay full?+
It is generally better to empty them, especially in heavy or delicate furniture. This reduces weight and prevents contents from shifting.
